Four-wicket bag for Presswell (pictured) in Hatherleigh win over Westleigh | Mawadzi leads North Devon run chance

HATHERLEIGH maintained their position at the top of the Blights Motors North Devon League table with a three-wicket victory at Westleigh.
Westleigh racked-up 149 for nine declared. Kyle Faber (34) and James Poole (20) got the innings off to a brisk start with an opening partnership of 57. One they were dismissed, wickets fell regularly, apart from Selwyn Fisher who top scored with 54 not out.
The in-form Jasper Presswell (4-29) took the bowling plaudits for Hatherleigh. There were a couple each for Shrey Ghosh and Ryan Brock.
Hatherleigh reached the target in just under 20 overs. Opener Kirt Forgham set the tone with 52 off 28 balls, Presswell hit a quick 34 and Ghosh saw his side home with an unbeaten 33. James Starkey, and Fisher, both took a couple of wickets for Westleigh.
North Devon were seven-wicket winners at Bideford, whose groundsman is North Devon captain Steve Moore.
Runs were at a premium against a disciplined North Devon attack as Bideford amassed a 40-over total of 144 for nine. James Greenleaf top scored with a watchful 31, veteran James Ford and Extras were next best with 22 each.
James Lake took the bowling praise with three for 21. Definate Mawadzi and Jack Moore had a couple of wickets each.
Mawadzi then hit 56 not out to lead North Devon to victory with 13 overs to go. Richard Clarke chipped in with 24. Bideford’s Marcus Bulled took two North Devon wickets.
Barnstaple & Pilton were eight-wicket winners over Lynton & Lynmouth in a Division Two game. Lynton were all out for 165, a disappointment after they had been 119 for two. David Brierly hit a quickfire 67, and together with Vishnu Kombath 37 took the visitors to 119 for two.
Barnstaple & Pilton fought back to take the next eight wickets for 43 runs. Dom Chugg, and Jamie Sutton both took three wickets.
There were few alarms as Barnstaple & Pilton got the runs. Ali Poll (19) and Jake Freer (39) got things off to a solid start. Sutton (32no) and Andrew Fewings, with a robust 70 not out, saw the home side to victory.
Braunton defeated visiting Holsworthy by three wickets in a low-scoring affair.
Holsworthy were bundled out for 103 in 28 overs. Opener Rory Piper’s 19 the top score. Jobin Franklin and Ajeesh Alosious both took three wickets for Braunton.
The visitors, led by Nick Ward (3-16) made Braunton work hard for the victory. Justin Vincent top scored for Braunton with 21, closely followed by Stephen Butler with 20 not out.
Newton Tracey defeated Victoria Park by two wickets on The Lawn. Skipper Ian Brown (56) and 26 extras were as good as it got for Park, who were all out for 129.
Darshan Patel claimed three wickets and there were two each for Jon Whormsley and Rumitkumar Patel.
Whormsley, Oli Symons, and Bhaveshkumar Patel all scored 23 in Newton Tracey’s successful chase, which was concluded with 10 overs to spare. Adrian Scarett and the unlucky Ian Brown both took three wickets for The Park
There was another low-scoring game at Nomansland, where visitors Exford were seven-wicket losers.
Exford were all out for 98 in 26 overs. Sam Price top scored with 23. There were three wickets for Nick Guscott, and a couple each for Will Hughes and Freddie Bucknell
It took little more tha 17 overs for Nomansland to get the total required. Harry Cracknell led the way with 41. Exford tried eight bowlers, to no avail.
