Ivybridge defeat Civil in last-ball T20 thriller + Horton top scores in losing cause

IVYBRIDGE defeated Plymouth CS&R by six-wickets in a T20 game that went down to the last ball.

The Bridge, chasing 119 to win, reached the final ball from Civil’s Nurez Jamel with the scores level.

Skipper Adam Huxtable needed a single from the last ball to clinch victory, which came courtesy of five wides chucked down the leg-side instead.

Harry Solomon was not out on 34 at the other end when the game was won.

Pick of the Ivybridge bowlers with four wickets for 33 runs was teenage spinner Jacob Kopparambil.

Ivybridge II proved too strong for their Civil counterparts in the second game of the day.

Derek Solomon, who opened with Andy Johnson in a stand that had a combined age of 114, played the anchorman role for a joint top score of 30 in the Ivybridge total of 136 for three. 

Solomon and Simon Kidd both retired on 30 to allow other players some time in the middle. Veteran John Mitchell (2-27) was the leading wicket taker for Civil.

Civil subsided to eight for three then 25 for five in reply with Joe Benson (2-5) among the wickets.

Lewis Clarke (3-7) and Tom Bendall (2-23) kept the pressure on as Civil were bowled out for 67 and lost by 59 runs.
