
TABLE-topping Hatherleigh defeated reigning Blights NDL Division One champions Heathcoat by three wickets chasing 226 to win.
Heathcoat, who won the toss and batted, were all out 225 in just over 34 overs. Jonny Chilcott (37) and Daniel Pugsley 34 took the score to 101 for two, which quickly became 106 for four.
Jeremy Bedford then took control, hitting 81 of 39 balls. Sixty-two of his runs came in boundaries. There was support from Tom Cowle (23).
Cowle and Bedford were both victims of Shreyansh Ghosh (3-16). There were three wickets for Greg Solkin, and a couple for Ruben Forrester
Hatherleigh’s chase got off to a poor start, as Matt Harrison (3-39) reduced them to nine for two. Jack Pomeroy with a quickfire 45, and Niall Leahy with a robust 31, put the home side back on track.
Skipper Adam Quick (44) and Ghosh (28) took the score to 176, which left Gareth Tidball to score 31 not out and win the game with two overs in hand.
Bridestowe & Belstone’s Kian Burns went into overdrive with the bat in his side’s five-wicket win over Westleigh.
Westleigh racked up a 40-over total of 275 for eight, thanks mainly to Tom Poole hitting 124 not out – 13 fours, seven sixes – from 73 balls. Next highest was James Poole (37) then chip-ins from James Morris (28) and Will Speed (24). Harry Bushin (3-33) and Shaq Glasgow (3-41) were the most successful of the nine bowlers used by B&B.
Glasgow (67) put on a decent partnership of 81 with James Ewen (24) for the second B&BN wicket. After 25 overs, with B&B on 163 for five, Westleigh were still in with a shout.
Then Burns took control. In a remarkable display of hitting, he blew away the Westleigh bowling. Burns bludgeoned 136 not out from just 39 balls – 16 sixes and eight fours – to see his side home with almost six overs in hand.
Victoria Park defeated Holsworthy by seven wickets in a Division Two game. Holsworthy were bundled out for 97. Opener Daniel Lucas top scored with 29. There was 21 from Liam Moore plus 22 extras, that helped the cause
There was tight bowling from all Park’s bowlers with Mark Slade (3-18), and Rob Guppy (3-24) the most successful. Darren Hart chipped in with a couple
The Park cruised to victory in 12 overs. Nitin Mathews hit 40, and Will Anderson 21
Exford travelled to Newton Tracey with a depleted side and lost by 125 runs. Newton batted first and hit an impressive 344 for two. Oli Symons and Kieran Soper compiled an opening partnership of 141 before Symons was run out for 78.
Soper went on to score 139, sharing a partnership of 171 with skipper Dom Robson (82no) for the second wicket. Ella Beauchamp was the only Exford bowler to take a wicket Exford reached 219 all out from 35 overs.
