With all the female league cricket completed in Devon, we turn our attention to Finals Day this weekend at Budleigh Salterton CC writes Women & Girls' Development Officer, Ann-Marie Presswell.

The game is growing so quickly, and it is important to celebrate all the playing achievements on the field but, more importantly, it is important to celebrate all the people who make the cricket happen – all the volunteers and club members who give up their time to make it happen. I am more than aware that none of the great female cricket would happen without all the volunteers and so, for the third year running, we are celebrating these people alongside the playing of the league finals.

This year the Devon Cricket Foundation and Tolchards Devon Women's Cricket League will be joined by Western Storm's Niamh Holland, who will be in attendance to celebrate with the players and give out the awards. It is fantastic to have a representative from the professional game on the day. The structure of the women’s game is changing and for the girls at the day to see someone who plays at this level, is inspirational.

Western Storm's Niamh Holland will be in attendance on the day.

Hosting the event is Budleigh Salterton CC, who have had a team in both the softball and the girls' league for several years. The new clubhouse is one of the perfect settings in the county for the day. We need two pitches for the cricket and the additional catering facilities of the club bring an added bonus!

The day will be a mix of play and celebration, as shown by the running order of the day below.

The day is full of mixed emotions for me. It is a celebration of everything that the cricket community has achieved during a season and a time to reflect on how the game continues to grow and change, but it is also sad as the current season is over… although that feeling doesn’t last for long as planning for the winter and the 2025 season has started already!

The Devon Cricket Foundation and the Tolchards Devon Women's Cricket League would like to invite all clubs around the county to attend the day and celebrate with us.

For further information on the day or for help setting up a women and/or girls' section at your club, please contact Ann-Marie Presswell.
