Heathcoat hold on to top spot in Blights NDL Division One | Runs for Everett, Bedford (pictured) and Torrence | Harrison and Pugsley scupper North Devon chase

HEATHCOAT remain out in front of Division One of the Brights Motors North Devon League after a 54-run victory over North Devon.

Harry Everett hit a quickfire 100 off 63 balls for Heathcoat as they racked-up 283 for seven. He got support from Bing Torrance 53, and Jeremy Bedford 56.

Nav Vanderbona, and Definate Mawadzi both took three wickets for North Devon. 

Young gun Freddie Bettiss led the North Devon response with 67. He found help from Richard Clarke (36) and Noah Tovell (27). Thirty-nine extras helped.

Matt Harrison (4-34) took the bowling plaudits. Skipper Dan Pugsley had three for 23, and there were a couple for Everett as North Devon were all-out for 229

Second-placed Bideford comfortably beat visiting Hatherleigh by 159 runs.

Bideford scored a 40-over total of 292 for nine. The top six all got runs, without going on to a big score.  Veteran James Ford top scored with 59, Josh King and Jack Ford both got 40-plus and there were 39 extras. 

Shreyansh Ghosh (4-46) was the pick of the Hatherleigh bowlers. There were a couple each for the Presswell twins

Hatherleigh struggled against Bideford’s disciplined bowling. Openers Niall Leahy (23) and Harry Arden gave it a go, but once they were out, only Ghosh (72no) reached double figures. Fawaaz Gallie took three wickets and Julian Hayter a couple more for Bideford.

REMARKABLE

Sandford won by 45 runs at Westleigh, thanks mainly to a remarkable innings from Tanbir Hayder

Sandford were in trouble at 110 for eight, which was when Hayder took over! He hit 125 off 79 balls, smashing 14 fours and nine sixes. 

Hayder shared a 159-run partnership with Jason Matten (36) to take his side to an all-out total of 272. Tom Poole, Will Speed and Kyle Faber all took three wickets for Westleigh’s 10-man attack,

Faber led the chase with a typically belligerent 69; next best was extras with 48. Poole was the only other scorer over 30.

Rhys James took four for 34 and Will Hopkins three for 27 as Westleigh were all out for227 with nearly 10 overs unused.

Newton Tracey and Nomansland are still neck and neck in Division Two. The two sides meet next when Nomansland will be the hosts

Newton hosted Lynton & Lynmouth at The Lawn, and won an entertaining game by eight wickets

Lynton scored 275 off their 40 overs. David Brierley hit a run-a-ball 117. Andy Keech weighed in with 51. and there was a 42 from C Rowlands. Rakesh Nair grabbed a couple for Newton.

Newton's chase was dominated by Kieran Soper. He hit his second century of the weekend, bludgeoning 14 fours and nine sixes in a career-best 170 not out. 

Soper shared an opening partnership of 133 with Bhavesh Patel, who hit a more sedate 56 as Newton reached their target with three overs in hand

Nomansland’s victory over visitors Holsworthy was a much tighter affair, as they scraped home by one wicket

Holsworthy scored 201 all out. S Barbar top scored with 46 not out. Adam Lovejoy and Ryan Seymour-Smith both contributed 38. Jacob Cole took three for 42 for the home side. Will Martin and Greg Cole both grabbed a couple of wickets.

Nomansland struggled early on and were 18 for three. They recovered thanks to William White (34) and Harry Cracknell 26. From 158 for eight it was down to Greg Cole (63no) and Jacob Cole (31) to put on 31 for the ninth wicket. Cole and Luke Morphet were left o hit the final 12 runs

Victoria Park by 17 runs away to Barnstaple & Pilton.

Viccy Park posted an all-out total of 198. Rupert Thorne top scored with 34, Ian Brown was next best with 32. Giles Bashford and Frankie Allen both tripled up for B&P.

The B&P chase started well. Jamie Sutton (60), and Damian Railston (45) together with Joe Chugg (30) set the platform, but failed to kick on against tight bowling, much to the dismay of sidelined skipper Ali Poll. 

The innings closed on 181 for eight. Dave Stanton claimed three for 24 for The Park.
