North Devon League clubs reminded to attend balls meeting on Thursday

THE North Devon League Ball distribution meeting is this Thursday (April 20) at the New Inn, Fremington (6pm), writes Patrick McEndoo.

The committee are aware that the weather has impacted heavily on ground preparation and clubs are reminded that fixtures can be rearranged or reversed, if that helps to get a game played.

It all  kicks off this Sunday (23rd) with two First Division games as Bideford entertain Newton Tracey, and Hatherleigh travel to North Devon.

The league this year comprises three divisions of six teams, plus a revitalised league cup. The management committee are delighted to confirm that Blights Motors of Bideford, have agreed to sponsor the league's cups. We are indebted to new treasurer Jim Lowe for his tireless work to secure the deal.

There has been a major shake up with the North Devon KO Cup. Graham Moore has taken on the role of chairman, Lee Cole is the new secretary and Rod Bowden is the competition president.

The competition also has adopted a new format. Nine teams have entered and split into three mini-divisions of three teams. The group winners, and the best runner-up, will go a finals day at Barnstaple on Sunday July 30 where two semis and the final will be played.
