2022 saw the launch of the Devon Cricket Girls' Softball League - a move made in response to the growth in girls' playing and the need for a more formal playing offer for established teams. The hard work of volunteers at clubs at clubs and the more connected approach of working in schools and clubs has seen a big increase in the number of potential teams and girls accessing the game.
Working with the youth leagues, the girls' leagues will be centrally run by the Devon Cricket Foundation. For detailed team information, you can visit the Devon Girls' Cricket Leagues and Competitions page.
The formation of the leagues from Under 11 upwards means girls have a clear pathway (see graphic below) from All Stars to both the women's hardball and softball leagues. It is a very exciting time for girl's cricket in the county.

The softball leagues are all played as pairs and use the Dynamos format, which the girls all now play in their primary school settings. All games are played in a festival-style format, with each club hosting a festival during the season.
This makes softball cricket a very sociable event for the girls, so they not only play games of cricket but have the opportunity to make friends!
