LAST-wicket pair Ashley Wreford, and Nick Guscott steered Nomansland to a one-wicket win over North Devon in Division One of the Blights Motors North Devon League.

North Devon, who were asked to bat first, were quickly reduced to 14 for six, thanks to the bowling skills of Elliot Cole (3-2).

Skipper James Tyson (42) led the North Devon recover. He had support from Freddie Horrocks, who contributed nine. When 13 extras were added in, the visitors totalled 72 all out. Jacob Cole took two for four at the end of the innings.

Nomansland’s reply started badly as Jools Hughes (4-1) performed the hat-trick by bowling Will White, Will Hughes and Xavier Warmbrunn one after the other to render them one for three at the end of the first over.

Nik Ollis took two for 16, and Oscar Meech two for 25 as the home side’s problems deepened.

Nomansland opener William Martin made 12 and there was a minor recovery led by Greg Cole (13) and Jacob Cole (11). However, at 49 for nine North Devon were favourites. Oscar Meech, who collected two wickets for North Devon against Nomansland

Wreford, and Guscott both scored 10 not out while putting on 24 for the last wicket to guide the home side to victory.

Bideford walloped Westleigh by 99 runs in the derby clash at Merchants Park.

The dad-and-lad combination of James (39) and Jack Ford (82) shared a 158-run partnership that helped take Bideford to an all-out total of 237. Forty-five extras helped the cause. 

Ian Wheatley (3-39), and Richard Pearson (3-41) were the pick of Westleigh’s bowlers.

Kyle Faber, Braunton’s overseas player is ineligible to play for his host club in the NDL, he played for Westleigh. He led the chase with 49.

The only other significant scores in Westleigh’s all-out total of 138 were from James Poole (23), and Steffan James (20), plus 32 extras.

VICTORIA Park defeated Barnstaple & Pilton by 96 runs in an NDL Division Two game on the sea front ground at Westward Ho!

The Park scored a 40-over total of 242 for nine, thanks mainly to opener Ian Brown, who carried his bat for an unbeaten 98, and 94 from Jack Ancill. Zack Newman (4-28) and Will Simpson (2-44) led B&P’s bowling effort.

Barnstaple & Pilton’s reply appeared to lack urgency. Matt Newton hit 60 in an opening partnership of 84 with Jamie Sutton, who made a patient 55. The reply petered after 40 overs on 146 for three. Blake Shapland took two for 30 for the home side.

Renjeesh Krishnan played a massive role for Exford in their three-wicket win at Newton Tracey.

The Robson twins – Dominic (50) and Connor (34) – were the main run getters for Newton Tracey in a 33-over tally of 155 all out. Extras contributed 24 and Dhavlkumar Patel 23.

Krishnan dominated Exford’s bowling stats with six for 16. Opening partner Max Watts took three for 31

Newton’s Domi Moore took four for 30 as Exford slumped Exford to 58 for five in reply.

That man Krishnan hit a rapid 35 that changed the game. Jay Sylvester (36no) and skipper Will Lock (13no) took Exford the rest of the way.

Elsewhere in Division Two there was a two-wicket win for Holsworthy over Braunton.
