Devon Women Match Preview: Hertfordshire (H)

Devon Women host Hertfordshire in their final Metro Bank One Day Cup home fixture on Sunday, 10 August.

Devon currently sit top of the Division 1 table with a 100% record, while the visitors travel to Devon looking for their first win in the competition.

Sunday is set to be the club's dedicated Her Game Too fixture, celebrating women and girls' cricket, with all girls' teams in Devon and girls' team coaches invited to join in the day at Budleigh Salterton CC.

David Joseph's Thoughts

"Sunday gives us a great opportunity to build on the really positive first three results in the Metro Bank, so as a squad we are really looking forward to it.

"It will also be great to finish our home fixtures at the Holt with our dedicated Her Game Too fixture."

Captain's Thoughts

"I'm very excited to get back into the back end of the Metro Bank competition and finish an already strong season off well. We will look to work hard and put in a solid team performance.

"We played some really exciting cricket against Hertfordshire in the T20s and will look to continue that, but just execute our skills for a longer period of time.

"I am excited to have a dedicated Her Game Too fixture and thank all the girls' clubs and coaches within the county. We are trying to raise the profile of Devon Women and give young players within the county something to aspire to and look up to."

Imogen Daldorph's Thoughts

"We're hoping to build on our two T20 wins last time out against Hertfordshire with another positive result this weekend.

"I'm really looking forward to getting back into the 50-over format on home turf."

Vitality Blast! Women's League 3 - Division 1 South

Devon Women completed a clean sweep of T20 victories at Tring Park CC, but fell short of qualifying for Finals Day, finishing second in Division 1 South on net run rate.

Devon's innings in Game 1 was anchored by Golsworthy's blistering 51 off 36 balls (10 fours), who dominated an opening stand of 65 with Hollie Perkin (11). Katie Donovan's late cameo (22* off 10) propelled the visitors to a competitive 145-5. Devon struck early in defence, leaving the hosts 25/4 at the end of the powerplay. Ellie Bishop (3-16) dismantled the top order, while skipper Stephanie Hutchins (3-19) accounted for key wickets. Eva Lewis (1-16) and Lilii (1-16) tightened the screws, restricting Hertfordshire to 114-8.

After being made to bowl first in Game 2, Devon's attack was led by Imogen Daldorph (3-8), who ripped through the middle order, as Hertfordshire faltered to 43-3 before Edie Stanley (25*) and Jenna-May Botha (14) offered resistance, but tight spells from Eva Lewis (1-16) and Jojo Baylis (1-18) restricted the hosts to 117-7. Despite losing three wickets inside the first two overs, Devon's chase was powered by a match-winning 78-run stand between Bishop (35) and skipper Hutchins (34). Hertfordshire's 21 wides eased the pressure, with Bishop and Hutchins' partnership helping seal victory in just 14.2 overs.
