10 teams from across six schools were in attendance last week as the Devon Cricket Centre played host to the 2025 Table Cricket County Finals.

Table Cricket is an adapted format of the game from the Lord's Taverners that is designed to be accessible for people with disabilities, allowing them to participate in the game we all love.

Lord's Taverners' Table Cricket competition gives young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) the chance to play cricket in a competitive environment, to be part of a team and to represent their school at a competitive level.

Multiple teams from Coombeshead Academy, Glendinning Academy, Newton Abbot College, Orchard Manor School, Pathfield School and St Peter's CofE Aided School took part in the biggest-ever Devon Table Cricket County Finals, with Newton Abbot College narrowly beating Orchard Manor and Coombeshead by just two points.

Speaking after leading his first Finals Day, Community Engagement Officer (North & East) Damian Price said:

"Table Cricket Finals Day is always one we are excited for at the Devon Cricket Foundation.

"This format of the game truly allows everyone to participate in cricket, giving so many young people who would not normally get opportunities like this the chance to represent their schools competitively at a county competition.

"It was great to have so many teams get together this year and see table cricket participation continue to grow."

Newton Abbot College won their first ever Table Cricket County Finals.Finals Day once again saw the return of Orchard Manor School's superb SEND Young Leaders to help run the competition, umpiring and scoring matches. Young Leaders from the school have now helped out at County and Regional Finals for a third year in a row.

"We have been incredibly fortunate to have Young Leaders from Orchard Manor supporting finals days for a number of years now," said Damian. "We are one of the few counties across the country where SEND Young Leaders support table cricket and we are incredibly grateful to Orchard Manor for their help."

Newton Abbot College now progress to the Regional Finals, which will take place at the Devon Cricket Centre on 16 May.

Young Leaders from Orchard Manor School supported Finals Day for the third successive year.
