In a slightly different way of reporting this week, Harry Everett talks us through a Sunday of sheer runscoring. With the weather now more summer-like the batters are getting back at the bowlers who have dominated most of the rest of the season.
It’s the week of 50+ scores!
Nine batters scored 50+, 4 of those also ending not out!
And there was also 1x century as Hollie Perkin reached 111 as an opener, thus carried her bat throughout the whole innings!
Here is the breakdown with the batters particularly getting the airtime in a league rarity this week:
DIVISION 1
Hatherleigh v Paignton
Hollie Perkin 111* (Paignton)
Eloise Maxa 58* (Hatherleigh)
Paignton won by 26 runs.
Level two qualified ECB Core Coaches Hollie Perkin and Eloise Maxa were two of the top scorers last Sunday having both played in the same game against each other. 111 and 58 setting the example for others watching that may have also received help from these young coaches.
Perkins faced 117 balls from the first to scoring a single off the penultimate ball and running a single off the last.
Maxa’s late efforts were almost a game changer (7x4s in her first 16 balls) but this wasn’t enough as Hatherleigh’s low-scoring at the start of the innings made it hard for them to catch up inside 35 overs.

Plymouth v Plympton
Frankie Lee 55* (Plympton)
Freya Malin 59 (Plymouth)
Plymouth won by six wickets despite giving 47 extras to Plympton. 35 they were donated in the reply as they needed just 18.2 overs to get the chase done.
Exeter v Cornwood
Evie Privett 60 (Cornwood)
Exeter won by 38 runs thanks to none of their bats being dismissed for single figures. Despite a superb solo effort from Privett – Cornwood’s second top scorer making just 11and the others only single figures.
DIVISION 2
Bradninch v Bovey Tracey
Monica Gair 65 (Bovey)
Holly Evans 56* (Bovey)
Libby Hancock 66* (Bovey)
Bovey won by a whopping 160 runs despite 4-39 from Abby Hayes of Bradninch. Sarah Stadbury fought hard for 39 off 71 balls, but then fell as one of Libby Hancock’s four wickets to wrap the game up.
Clyst St George v Taunton Deane 2s
Harriet Kelly 52 (Deane)
Millie Lusk 68 (Deane)
Deane made the imposing score of 227-7 from their 35 overs, plenty of their ladies auditioning well for the Somerset ladies launch event on the 18th September at the County Ground. Clyst replied with 91 all out inside just 27.2 overs.
It is now getting towards the end of the season so do make the most of the nice weather and go down and support the womens games in future Sundays before it is too late for this year!
