BELSTONE defeated Bideford by four wickets as some unfinished business from the 2023 season was finally resolved.
Bideford and Belstone were due to meet last season in the final of the Blights Motors League Cup, but the game never took place.
When the two sides met in the North Devon League at Belstone on Sunday it was agreed the game would double-up as the delayed cup final.
And Belstone emerged from the game with the silverware and league points thanks to a four-wicket win.
The Fords – James (20) and Jack (57) – got the Bideford innings off to a decent start, with an opening stand of 57.
Once Jack Ford was dismissed, the rest of the Bideford side, struggled against some tight Belstone bowling that held Bideford to 160 for nine.
Alex Fillingham and Shaquan Glasgow claimed three wickets each for the Foxes.
A couple of early wickets might have raised Bideford hopes. However, man-of-the-match Glasgow soon dashed those hopes, with a quickfire 91 off 70 balls as Belstone won with four wickets and more than 13 overs in hand.
Elliot Curry (3-37) did his best by taking three wickets for Bideford. Jack Ford gave little away.
Heathcoat were comfortable six-wicket winners away to Nomansland.
Nomansland batted first, and were dismissed for 137. Harry Cracknell top scored on 54 not out. No other batter made more than 20. Tom Cowle, Will Edwards, and Luke Thomas, all took a couple of wickets each for Heathcoat.
Heathcoat knocked off the runs inside 20 overs, Lewis Hough (55no) and Jesse-James Albanie (42) broke the back of the chase.
There was a high-scoring affair at Instow where North Devon beat neighbours Westleigh by 90 runs to go top of the Division One table.
North Devon scored 315 for eight in their 40 overs, led by skipper James Tyson with 147., He got help all through the card.
Jack Moore (26no) had fun at the end, hitting four of his five balls he faced from Tom Poole for six! .Dick Pearson, James Starkey and James Morris all took two wickets for Westleigh.
The Poole boys – Tom (96) and James (46) – led the chase. Once they were out, only Pearson (30) and extras (30) reached double figures as the visitors were dismissed for 225. North Devon’s Archie Popham (4-53) did most of the damage, backed-up by Noah Duerden (3-51)
Hatherleigh’s Sheyansh Ghosh hit a second unbeaten century of the weekend, and his third in a row, as Hatherleigh beat Holsworthy by six wickets to maintain their unbeaten record in division two.
Liam Brend top scored with 50 for Holsworthy in their total of 192 for seven. Jack Greening made 44. Ghosh and Luke Westacott both took a couple for Hatherleigh.
Ghosh led the chase with 103 not out from 67 balls faced. He found support from Adam Quick (53) as Hatherleigh cruised to victory with six overs to spare.
Barnstaple & Pilton won by 47 runs at Ilfracombe after totting-up 181 for seven. Dom Chugg top scored with 46, Andrew Fewings made 35 and Martin Brown dug in for 25 off 61 balls
Sam Chowdhury, Tom Ward, and Forhad Miah all took a couple of wickets for 'Combe. Adam Bambridge top scored for Ilfracombe, who were dismissed for 134. Chris Brigden and Fewings both took three wickets for B&P.
Braunton defeated Victoria Park by 30 runs at Westward Ho! Andrew Norman top scored with 46 and Joe Mullens chipped in 33 not out towards a total of 141 all out. Six bowlers took wickets for the Park.
Norman and Mullens then starred with the ball with wickets to help dismiss the hosts for 111.
Lynton & Lynmouth were two-wicket winners over Newton Tracey.
