A year after its formation, the Devon Youth Cricket League is celebrating a successful first season.
The Devon Youth Cricket League (DYCL) was launched in December 2023, incorporating both the East Devon Youth Cricket League and the South Devon Youth Cricket League after these dissolved at the end of the season.
In its inaugural season, the DYCL saw 152 league teams and 97 cup teams, aged 8-19, from across 49 clubs compete in 1,000 fixtures.
Reflecting on the DYCL's first season, Devon Cricket Foundation's Competitions Officer, Stephen Bourke, who is responsible for the competition's operations, said:
"Getting the DYCL up and running in such a short time was no small task, but what an incredible first season it has been!
"The feedback from clubs and players has been fantastic, and it's so rewarding to see the league’s success inspiring even more clubs to join us next year.
"Here’s to building an even brighter future for you cricket in Devon together"
The DYCL is currently divided into three tiers across different age groups from Under 9 to Under 15:
- Tier 3 is for our softball divisions; this will help participants transition from Dynamos into pairs cricket.
- Tier 2 is for our recreational cricketers who are there to play the game they enjoy so much, with a big emphasis on participation over results.
- Tier 1 is our premier divisions of cricket; this is where the best of the best ply their trade and ultimately try to win the division championship.

Registration for the 2025 DYCL will open on 16 December 2024.
