Devon's Ruby Davis has signed for Somerset CCC on a short-term contract.
Part of the Somerset Academy, the 20-year-old joins up with the squad in time for the Vitality Blast fixture against Durham tomorrow (Friday, 4 July) and she will be available for selection until 16 July.
The right-handed top-order batter, who is a product of the Devon Cricket Performance Pathway and captained Devon Women during the second half of last season, is looking forward to joining up with the Somerset squad: "I'm excited to be spending time around the playing squad," she said. "It's my first time in the environment, so I'm looking forward to experiencing how everything works. I’ve worked hard to get to this point and it’s an exciting time for me.
"I’m really happy to be making my way into the First Team set up and I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out."
Ruby joined Devon Under 13 Girls in 2016, going on to captain the Under 18 Girls when they were crowned ECB Royal London County Cup Champions in 2022.
Somerset Head Coach, Trevor Griffin is looking forward to welcoming Ruby into the squad. "Ruby is someone who we've been aware of for a couple of years," he said. "Jack Bradbury [Somerset Girls Academy Lead] has been impressed by her performances for the Academy, and she’s also been successfully captaining Loughborough University.
"Ruby joined us for the recent friendly against Essex and I liked the way that she went about things. She gives us additional batting options at a time when we have a few players unavailable, and we’re excited to see what she can offer at this level."
