Devon Women secured a commanding eight-wicket victory over Cambridgeshire with 19 overs to spare in their Metro Bank One Day Cup clash at The Holt, comfortably chasing down 179 after a disciplined bowling performance.

Cambridgeshire's innings was anchored by Sarah Singer’s patient 72 off 99 balls, but lacked substantial partnerships as wickets fell at regular intervals. Devon's bowlers shared the spoils, with Eva Lewis (4-39) and Ellie Bishop doing the bulk of the damage. Bishop's late spell was particularly devastating, taking four wickets in just 4.1 overs while conceding only eight runs.

The hosts' reply was emphatic from the outset. Openers Jemima Vereker (24 off 25) and Steph Hutchins (51 off 67) raced to 71 inside 12 overs, aided by 31 extras. Hutchins' maiden Devon half-century, featuring seven boundaries, set the platform before Bishop (44) and Regina Lilii (25) completed the chase in just 30.4 overs with an unbroken 48-run stand.

David Joseph's Post-Match Thoughts

"It was a great result for us on Sunday. Going three from three in the Metro Bank One Day Cup is fantastic. We wanted to build on the cup run and finish the first 50-over block strongly.

"The bowling unit bowled in good areas and the spinners did a great job. What was particularly pleasing was the run chase: it was clinical and based on responsibility and partnerships.

"The players all love playing at our home base at The Holt and all the support they get here."

Steph Hutchins' Post-Match Thoughts

"We had a good day out on the field on Sunday. Eva bowled really well, taking four wickets, with Gee [Regina Lilii] at the other end building dot ball pressure. Our fielding improved as the game went on and kept pressure on the batters through the innings.

"We went out with some good intent with the bat and set the tone early. Reaching 100 within the 11th over set a good platform to continue and finish the run chase two down."
