Devon Women travel to Kibworth CC for the final of the Metro Bank One Day Cup Women's League 3 Division 1 on Sunday, 21 September.

Despite back-to-back washouts in their final two games of the season at Cheshire and Staffordshire, Devon finished top of Division 1, five points clear of Sunday's opponents, Berkshire. Devon's last full match was the 7-wicket victory over Wiltshire on 24 August.

Berkshire's all-important clash with Buckinghamshire last week was abandoned during the innings break, with Berkshire 191/7 after 50 overs before the rain came in.

Sunday's final will be a rematch of the opening game of the season, when Devon Women came out on top in a 4-wicket win at Budleigh Salterton CC.

Sean Day's Thoughts

"The team are really looking forward to being part of a finals day. They've worked so hard to finish undefeated at the top of the table and deserve to showcase their skills on the big stage. Dave and I are really proud of what this group has achieved and the journey to get here."

"Our final message for the game is this: finals aren’t just about winning, they're about proving how far we've come together. Trust the work, trust each other, and leave it all out there.”

Captain's Thoughts

"I am very excited to be going to the Tier 3 Metro Bank finals; it's a reward for all the hard work everyone has put in this season.

"It's also a great opportunity for five of our Under 18 Girls ECB Royal London County Cup champions to reach a third final, but also for our younger pathway players and some of the senior players to experience a finals day.

"If we back our skill sets and execute our plans, we play some great cricket as a squad. More importantly, we have to enjoy the occasion and relax into the match day, and the cricket will take care of itself, which has been a proven success for us."

Jojo Baylis' Thoughts

"Super excited to finish our first season in Tier 3 on finals day, having topped the league and being unbeaten.

"We're looking to keep that momentum for the final game!"

Having won in the first T20 of the day at Wokingham CC, Devon opted to bat first again but never found the momentum of the first game, losing wickets at regular intervals. Elle Golsworthy (16), Ella Gill (4) and Regina Lilii (5) were all dismissed early, but Jemima Vereker (22) and Ellie Bishop (18) briefly steadied the ship in the middle order. However, once their 39-run stand was broken, only Beth Hall (17) could offer late resistance as the visitors lost their last five wickets for just 23 runs.

Defending a modest target of 106, Devon needed an early breakthrough, but Berkshire's openers Alex Avoth (32) and Shristi Patil (24) raced to a 53-run stand inside eight overs. Regina Lilii and Jojo Baylis dismissed the openers to briefly give Devon hope, but a 33-run partnership between Talitha Stanley (19) and Izzy Storrar (27*) guided Berkshire over the line with a ball to spare.
