
The ECB Disclosures Portal will now offer the option for applicants to complete an online, Digital ID verification process, subject to eligibility.
This provides an alternative to face-to-face ID verification and allows applicants to verify their identity remotely using a digital process.
A Digital ID check is an online method of verifying an applicant’s identity using secure technology instead of checking physical documents. It allows applicants to prove who they are quickly and securely during the DBS application process.
The Digital ID option is entirely optional, and volunteers can still choose to complete a free face-to-face ID verification, as they have done previously.
Please note that when you initiate the DBS, you are required to select Digital ID verification; however, when the applicant completes the check, they can choose to either have their ID verified face-to-face or digitally.
It is important to note that there is a £4.92 cost associated with the Digital ID verification, which is paid by the applicant should they choose this route.
