DEVON’S Twenty20 double-header against Wiltshire at Exeter was called off without a ball bowled in either match.

Although the pitch had been covered overnight to protect it from bad weather, there was no way to safeguard the County Ground outfield.

Parts of the outfield were saturated and with no signs of the rain abating umpires John Wheeler and Bhavin Radia agreed to call it a day.

Devon captain James Horler and opposite number Ed Young shook hands on two points each and headed off for today’s (Monday) round of fixtures.

Devon play Dorset at Wimborne while Wiltshire are in action against Cornwall at Salisbury. Devon need two wins to stand a chance of topping Group Five and quaifying for the Super 12s play-offs later this month.

Devon have named a revised 12 for the trip to Wimborne with Will Christophers and Jamie Stephens added to the squad.
