DEPLETED Chudleigh crashed to an eight-wicket defeat at Bideford, where they were bowled out for 80 and beaten inside 15 overs.

Chudleigh opener Mark Solway made 26 from 59 balls as batsmen came and went a bit too often at the other end. He was sixth out with the total on 53.

Harrison Windsor-Horne (15) and tail-ender Andrew Robinson (11) made the only other double-figure scores.

Chris Luxton (2-23) got into Chudleigh’s top order, Ewan Williams (3-19) pressurised the middlemen and two wickets each for Martin Stewart and Jody Brown dealt with most of the rest.

Bideford lost wickets at 27 and 31 in the brief time it took to knock-off the runs. In at the end were Ollie Hannam (29no) and Williams (24no).

It was Bideford’s first league win of the season and came as a relief to skipper Tom Brend, who described it as: “A much-needed kick start to our season.”

Brend added: “Chudleigh will admit they were lacking some key players, but games of this kind can sometimes be a banana skin if you're complacent.

“It was a professional job by us and we were fairly ruthless throughout.”

[O] CLYST St George had reached 12 for one in the seventh over of their B Division game against Budleigh Salterton when rain stopped play. The man out was skipper Dan Kendall, who was caught behind off Jack England for four.
