CONRAD SUTCLIIFE REPORTING
JON Lewis-Oliver has been installed as Exeter’s new 1st XI captain for the Tolchards DCL Premier Division campaign ahead.
The County Grounders were left in a quandary at the end of last season when captain Clint McCabe and number two Charlie Clist both stood aside.
Injury ruled McCabe out for most of the second half of the season. Family commitments have militated against him resuming the role.
Clist, who stepped-up from vice-captain to lead the side, has since moved to London to work and will be turning out for Bromley in the Kent League Premier Division. Tom Simmons, formerly with Sidmouth, will fill the vice-captain’s role.
There is a new hand in the second-team tiller, where Jeremy Tojy has succeeded long-serving Graham White. Club chairman Matt Willamson is the new number two.
Exeter are continuing their practice of engaging an overseas player for their first and second team.
Indian all-rounder Aashay Dube, who has been assisting the second team since 2021, is coming back for another summer.
The new overseas player for the first team is South African fast bowler Cameron Fraser.
“I met him when I was there in October and watched him play for Rondebosch CC,” said Williamson. “He is a fast bowling all-rounder; a super-exciting young talent.”
