The Devon Cricket Board is proud to announce and welcome Alex Jopling as the new Community Cricket Coach for Plymouth and West Devon. Alex will be responsible for helping increase the participation of cricket in the Plymouth and West Devon region.

This Community Coach role is supported by Chance to Shine and in partnership with cricket clubs and leagues in Plymouth & West Devon.  Alex will be working to enhance the experience young people in education and clubs have within cricket.  He will work towards the effective delivery of quality cricket across Plymouth & West Devon, coaching in the school and club setting as well as supporting club coaches and managers.

Alex has recently gained a 1st class BSc (Hons) degree in Sports Coaching and Development from the University of Gloucestershire. During his time at University, Alex was awarded his UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Children’s Cricket and furthered his valuable experience volunteering for the Gloucestershire Cricket Board. During his voluntary placement, Alex assisted and led numerous coaching sessions in various settings including PE lessons, after-school clubs, local clubs, disability sessions and tournaments. As well as creating the opportunity to help run programmes such as Chance to Shine.

Since moving to Devon six years ago, Alex has been an integral part of his local cricket club Bridestowe and Belstone. Not only does he play for the first Xl for Bridestowe, he is also involved with running all their junior coaching sessions.
