Draw released for 2018 Servicemaster Devon T20 competition
TWO-time champions Torquay have been drawn in the same pool as Paignton and Sidmouth in next summer’s Servicemaster Devon T20 competition.
Torquay qualified to represent Devon in the national ECB-run NatWest Clubs T20 competition, where they lost to Penzance.
Exmouth, the 2015 winners and last season’s defeated finalists, have been grouped with Bovey Tracey and Hatherleigh.
The five qualifying pools are:
Pool 1: Paignton, Torquay, Sidmouth.
Pool 2: Heathcoat, Chudleigh, North Devon.
Pool 3: Budleigh Salterton, Cullompton, Plympton.
Pool 4: Exmouth, Bovey Tracey, Hatherleigh.
Pool 5: Sandford, Exeter,Bradninch.
Pool 6: Abbotskerswell, Cornwood, Plymouth.
The team draw first in their pool has hosting rights for a festival day when the fixtures will be played.
Should team one decide they don’t want to host, the right passes to the second team out of the hat.
Six qualifiers plus two runners-up selected on either points earned or net run rate, will go into the ko quarter-finals on July 1.
Rule changes have yet to be finalised. However, no category three overseas players will be allowed to play in 2018.
“We will then mirror the ECB rule for the next round that the Devon champions would be subject to when representing the county in their competition,” said cup organiser Richard Stevenson.
Finals day is July 15 at Budleigh Salterton CC. July 22 has been set aside as the reserve date.
