Following the announcement on Monday in relation to the exciting developments within the Girls’ Performance Pathway in Devon from September 2024, we are excited to share further details on these changes.

Performance Pathway Parity

We are pleased to confirm that, from September 2024, we will have complete parity across our Girls’ and Boys’ County Age Group Pathways.

Devon Cricket Pathway Manager, Sandy Allen, says he's proud to see Devon as one of the counties leading the way in this area:

"This is an extremely exciting development within the Girls’ game in Devon, as we believe we will be one of, if not the only county, to provide parity in the UK."

"It's great to see that the Boys' and Girls' Pathways will be the same from next year," says Under 18 Girls player, Sophie Brandom. "Having Under 14 and Under 16 Girls squads is really good, it gives more players the chance to play for Devon."

Two New County Age Group Squads

As shown in the above graphic, we are adding two new County Age Group squads to the Girls' Performance Pathway from September 2024 onwards: an Under 14 Girls squad (Year 9) and an Under 16 Girls squad (Year 11).

This represents a positive move to provide more cricket for girls at a County Age Group level and is a result of the growth driven by the recreational game.

We will continue to run Under 13 and Under 15 Youth Development Cricket age groups, which will each cater for two-year groups: Under 13 Girls for Years 7 and 8, and Under 15 Girls for Years 9 and 10 Girls.

Overseas tour

The Under 15 Girls Tour to Sri Lanka will take place annually from February 2025.

From 2025, the Under 15 Girls Tour to Sri Lanka will become an annual tour, mirroring the Under 15 Boys Tour to South Africa.

From September 2024, players selected into the Under 15 Girls County Age Group squad will be invited to tour Sri Lanka.

The first of the annual tours to Sri Lanka is set to take place in February 2025.

"I was lucky to be on the first-ever tour to Sri Lanka," says Sophie. "That it'll now become an annual tour is fantastic for the girls coming through the Pathway."
