Taylor accepts Sports award on behalf of hard-working coaches and managers

BOVEY Tracey’s Mark Taylor was named coach of the year at the Exeter Foundation Devon Sports Awards.

The awards – run in association with Active Devon – are a public thank-you to the people who make sport tick in the county.

Taylor was nominated after winning the Teignbridge Sports Personality of the Year coaching award for 2015.

And he was quick to accept the award on behalf of all the coaches and team managers at Bovey Tracey.

“I am the co-ordinator but with 12 teams and 150-plus boys and girls playing there are lots of coaches and team managers,” said Taylor.

“It is all their hard work that makes things happen and what I have won is on their behalf as they have done so much for the club.”

Bovey Tracey run teams from 9-19 and on their roster are three ladies teams.

Teams from Bovey Tracey won five divisions in last summer’s Wollen Michelmore-sponsored South Devon Youth League.

In the Under-14 division it was a Bovey one-two as the A team won it and the B team were the runners-up.

When the end-of-season awards were handed out, there were nine players of the year from Bovey Tracey, among them Taylor’s son Sam.
