Allen looking to take Torquay within sight of promotion

TORQUAY could clinch promotion from the A Division with a game to go if they beat Plympton on the Recreation Ground tomorrow.

But the most likely scenario is all three promotion candidates will go into the last round next Saturday with a chance of going up.

Table-topping Torquay need all 20 points and require third-placed Cornwood to drop three at Bideford.

If second-placed Paignton slip up against Chudleigh – unlikely looking at the form book – that would send Torquay up too.

What Torquay want to avoid is going into their last game of the season needing a win to go up. That last game is against Cornwood, who could yet have everything to play for.

“It would be great going to Cornwood needing a couple of points to achieve this season’s goal of promotion.

“However we cannot and will not look too far ahead,

“Plympton are a good unit and we’ll have to be 100 per cent on our game to get the win

“Let’s put in a good performance this week and see where we all are on Saturday evening.”

Brixham, who have been hit with a three-point penalty for disciplinary reasons, have a basement clash with lowly Ivybridge.

Budleigh Salterton go to Abbotskerswell keen to end a run of three defeats.

The batting will be stronger for the inclusion of opener Marc Troman.

If Budleigh can win their last two games they cold pip Plympton for fifth place.
