Chudleigh appoint new captain after Foreman stands down

DEVON League A Division new boys Abbotskerswell have strengthened for the season ahead by signing batsman James Westlake from Kingsbridge.

Westlake, who used to play rugby before injury ended that career, is a former Kingsbridge captain.

Chudleigh, another A Division side, will have a new skipper this season as Matt Heather has replaced Ed Foreman.

Foreman has done four seasons in the job, during which he got Chudleigh back into the A Division and kept them there.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as captain at Chudleigh but now is the right time to stand down and let Matt take the team forward,” said Foreman.

“Matt has skippered a handful of games over the last few seasons and done very well so I have no doubt he will have a successful time in charge.

Andy Robinson will remain as 2nd XI captain. Will Heather will run the T20 side.

South African Grant Stone, last season’s overseas player, has joined a Cornish club this year, leaving Chudleigh to find a replacement.
