Abbots send Ipplepen spinning to defeat
CONNOR Adams and Noah Tobias sent Ipplepen spinning to a 95-run defeat in the derby clash with Abbotskerswell.
Tom Keily (59) had the top score for Abbotskerswell in their 45-over total off 222 for nine.
Pens, who have ben on and off the top all season, subsided from 74 for one to 107 for seven and on to 127 all out.
In another all-change top four, Tavistock (141pts) are now top, Bideford (139) second, Pens (133_ down to third and Shobrooke Park (124) fourth. Abbots are a point behind in fifth.
Abbots’ top six all got runs – some quicker than others – with Keily taking the score to 134 for three helped by Charlie Mitchell (34) and Elliot Adams (22).
Jimmy Fulner (21), skipper Charlie Hill (27) and Richard Acton (37) got the runs later in the piece.
There were two wickets each for Jonny Norman (2-34), Seb Powell (2-36) and Steve Bowden (2-38).
Pens lost opener David Harris sooner rather than later – out for one in the second over – but Jack Lewis (17), Mawgan Penrice with 44 against his former club, and Joe Abbott (26) moved the score along.
The slide started with the run-out of Jack Wylie, who chanced his arm against Hill’s and lost.
Abbott was stuck at one end while wickets fell at the other. He was ninth out at 116, but when the game was over.
Tobias (2-3) and Connor Adams (3-29) did most of the damage.
Winning captain Hill said fifth in the table halfway through the season was a decent position following promotion.
“Not a bad first nine games and plenty to go forward with into the latter part of the season,” said Hill.
On the win over Ipplepen Hill said: “We ran out easy winners in the end.
“Our bowlers all bowled to plans and when Ipplepen started a partnership we were quick to break it.
“Once the top four were gone we were in complete control.”
