More than a hundred tickets have been sold already for the date at Exeter Golf and Country Club, but there is room for more if you apply today as sales close tomorrow (Monday)
The Trust was set up in memory of former Devon and Gloucestershire cricketer David Shepherd, who went on to become a First Class and Test match umpire.
Supporting youth cricket is the aim of the Trust, ranging from softball cricket for beginners to specialised coaching for potential county players.
Events like lunch with Chris Rogers help raise some the £25,000 a year the Trust is committed to ploughing into youth cricket.
Among the events supported this year was a disability cricket festival at Bovey Tracey.
The Special Schools Festival has been running four five years at Bovey Tracey CC and has grown year upon year with the number of teams participating.
This year’s festival was split into two, with five teams competing for the Charles Hackett Trophy and three enjoying small-sided games and activities for the day.
Barley Lane, Combe Pafford, Millwater, Newton Abbot College, and Ratcliffe School all competing against one another to get their hands on the Trophy.
This event has now become a feature in the special schools calendar and one which holds a lot of stature amongst the special schools community.
It was clear from the standard of the games the teams had been practicing, meaning straighter bowling, bigger hitting and better fielding.
Barley Lane were unbeaten in their Hackett Trophy games, winning the competition for the second year running with Combe Pafford runners-up.
