Win over Dumplings no stroll for tourists

DEVON Dumplings put up a gallant effort defending a low score before dipping out by four wickets to the Strollers on the County Ground.

Skipper Graham White backed a strong-looking batting line-up to deliver the goods and was disappointed with a total of 129 all out after going in first.

Following an opening stand of 33 between Kenton Vos (22) and Adam Ramcharran (20), the hosts lost wickets regularly.

A little embarrassed by their performance with the bat, the Dumplings were determined to fight hard in the field and certainly did that.

Adrian Immerman (2-40) led the way with a quick and accurate opening spell, back up by Jacques Budricks (1-7 off 5).

The Dumplings used the spin of Kenton Vos (0-33 off 14 overs) and niggling seam of Joel Murphy (2-15 off 11) to made the opposition work hard for their runs.

Strollers’ captain Chris Townsend played a fine hand in making 42 until falling to a direct hit run out by Budricks at mid-wicket.

Al Price (22 not out) then hit the boundaries to take his side to victory.

The Dumplings are in action this Wednesday at Instow where they are playing North Devon (2.00 pm).
