BIDEFORD have re-signed all-rounder Jack Ford little more than two seasons since he left the club for a crack at Premier Division cricket.

Ford, who made 58 league and cup appearances, was a member of the Sandford side that won the Tolchards DCL Premier Division title last season.

Ford took 51 Premier Division wickets at an average below 19 with his off-spin. A batting highlight was an unbeaten 75 that took Sandford to victory over Paignton last season.

Sandford have won all five league games so far this season with Ford a regular in the side. His reason for leaving is purely playing related.

“Limited bowling opportunities at Sandford was the reason for me leaving,” said Ford..

“It was an incredibly hard decision to leave Sandford after winning five out of five games, but I can’t wait to help Bideford progress over the course of the next couple seasons.

“Sandford is a great club to play for and I can’t thank everyone at the club for the opportunities they’ve given me.

“’ll be hoping they go on to win the league again this season.”

Jackson Thompson, the Sandford captain, said the door is open for Ford to re-join in the future.

“Jack was well liked by us all at Sandford and we would welcome him back if he decided to return,” said Thompson.

Tom Brend, the Bideford captain, described Ford’s return as ‘great news’ for the club.

Brend added: “Jack returning is a big positive for us in all departments.

“He has come straight back to us so will be available for this Saturday’s trip to Teignmouth & Shaldon.”
