PLYMPTON picked-up another max-points win when they cruised to a five-wicket triumph over Clyst St George.

Forty points from the last 40 on offer have hoisted Plympton into third place in the B Division table.

Charlie Taylor (51) made the early runs for Clyst in a running total of 88 for three. Plympton did well to slow the villagers’ middle order after that. Only Andrew Donovan (20) made much headway as Harnoop Kalsi (2-25) and Manny Motswiri (3-26) got the brake on.

"It was a really good bowling performance with Harnoop and Manny the stand outs on a fairly flat pitch, bcked up by some good catches,” said Plympton captain Harry Kandampully.

Clyst’s total of 149 all out was knocked-off with more than 16 overs to spare with no major dramas.

Rahul Randev (33) and Kandampully (19) made the initial progress. Motswiri (37no) and Sam Ford (34) shared a 74-run stand that left four to win when Donovan removed the latter.

“Clyst bowled well and didn't give us much,” said Kandampully. “Manny batted well and Sam batted really maturely to see us home.”

Clyst St George skipper Par Singh said the team needs to have look at its decision making in the wake of this defeat.

“It was a poor showing with the bat on what was a great deck to bat on,” said the captain. Poor shot selections at crucial times cost us.

“We need to bat out the 50 overs to give our bowlers a chance. Our only real positive with the bat was Charlie Taylor with another half-century.”

On the bowling front, the Clyst captain said: “Ollie Manning and Inder Singh both bowled great spells and were the pick of our bowlers.

“All credit goes to Plympton CC who were gracious hosts. We look forward to the reverse fixture later on in the season.”
