B DIVISION BRIEFING – WEEK SEVEN
BRAUNTON (7th) v PLYMPTON (2nd)
Braunton (Sam Reddick): I’m away at a wedding in Scotland this week, so the experienced Callum Mitchell will lead the side. Simon Murfet comes back in to the side in place of me. We know Plympton have some exceptionally dangerous players. We look forward to welcoming them to the Kelsey and giving them a test. The boys are raring to go after last Saturday’s washout, a game we really felt could have gone ahead.
Plympton (Harry Kandampully): Three changes this week. Rahul Randev, Sam Ford and Jamie Bailey are unavailable. In come Tobin Barker, Alex Carr and Billy Pitman. Haven't played at Braunton in many years and looking forward to a good game. A change in the weather would be helpful too.
SEATON (top) v ASHBURTON (9th)
Seaton (Tim Doulton): Kersley Sutton and Digby Wheeler return to the 2nd XI and will be looking to get through their full allocation of overs. We also welcome back Ben Fisher to the side, while Stephen Pritchard makes his first appearance of the season. He comes in for the injured Tristan Wakeley, who misses out this week. It will be another important home game for us this week, and it is vital that we avoid any complacency as we look to build on recent performances.
Ashburton (Lloyd White): Disappointed to not get any game time last week. Forecast looks better for the weekend. Ash Berry out and Steve Edmonds has childcare responsibilities. Jack Warren and Matt Coon return. A lot of the lads haven't played at Seaton for a very long time so it'll be great to go back. Looks like they are in a good spot but we'll be doing all we can to put in a top performance.
BOVEY TRACEY II (8th) v PLYMSTOCK (6th)
Bovey Tracey 2nd XI (Dan Green); Team is looking good for Saturday. Lewis Hammett is with us this week to keep wicket and batter Ed Foreman is back. Last couple to finalise. A big game for us. We know how good they are. Time to show what we can do/. Let's hope the rain stays away.
Plymstock (Tom Mitch): Connor Porter and Ian Whalley come in. The performances have been there for spells of games so far this season, we need to find a way to be better for longer and I have no doubt that the results will follow.
STOKE GABRIEL (3rd) v CLYST ST GEORGE (10th)
Stoke Gabriel (Jack Tolley): A few changes again this week. Jake Robinson is off to Greece for a lads’ holiday and Mike Smith isn’t available. In come Kai Horsborough and Liam Mair. Haven't played two weekends in a row yet so looking to yet again start some momentum. Hoping we can get some cricket played. Usually a good game with Clyst, expecting another tough game.
Clyst St George (Par Singh): Squad is pretty depleted this week, no Dan Kendall, Ewan Cragg, Andrew Donovan, Andrew Taylor and Ollie Manning. Still working out last-minute additions.
BIDEFORD (5th) v BARTON (4th)
Bideford (Jack Ford): All-rounders Josh King and Marcus Bulled back in to the team this week. Elliot Currie out due to his own stag do in Zante. Always have good games of cricket against Barton and they look to have a decent pro again this season. Hopefully the bad weather stays away now for a while and we can get back to playing near our best cricket again, alongside hopefully a bit more settled availability.
Barton (Steve Lewis): I am back in the side. Tom Drake cannot travel. Sree can’t travel so Chris Stubbs regains his place. Dev is back in as Adam Last has an injury, we desperately hope isn’t going to keep him out too long. Tough place to go and get a result. So difficult to know what to expect after such a turbulent start to a season weather wise.
