OLLIE SMITH REPORTING
YELVERTON batsmen Martin Goff and Lee Foskett didn’t just break the G Division West batting record in the match against Dartington & Totnes … they absolutely smashed it!
Goff went out to join Foskett when Yelverton 2nd XI were 82 for two and between them the pair put together a stand of 212 for the third wicket.
It was a new third-wicket record for the division, easily overtaking the former best of 179 set in 2023 by Ipplepen duo Tobias Alsop and Owen Penrice against Bovey Tracey.
And only Plymouth batsmen Jason Degg and Ed Lockett have added more for ANY wicket in the G Division West. They plundered 250 between them against South Brent last season.
Foskett – Eddie to his friends – made 139 from 116 balls, which included 16 fours and three sixes. It was his first league ton. When he isn’t playing for Yelverton he can be found captaining Devon Over-60s 2nd XI.
Goff was on 92 not out in a team total of 298 for three at the end of 40 overs.
Dartington & Totnes were bowled out for just 66 with more than nine overs to go. Pete Beckley took three D&T wickets for 15 runs. There were two each for Archie Chown, Toby Julyan and George Swinbank.
