WITH a third-place finish in the B Division table and a run to the last four of the Corinthian Cup, it’s safe to say Seaton easily achieved their goals for the season just ended.

In the five weeks up to the halfway stage of the season, the B Division new boys were top of the table. There were one or two whispers of a second successive promotion being achieved.

Bideford then Stoke Gabriel both went past Seaton after the turn, and there they stayed for the rest of the season.

Tim Doulton, the Seaton captain, said: “We set the target originally to stay in the division, so to exceed these aspirations with a young side is very pleasing. 

“We never felt like we were truly out of any game we played and provided a challenge to each team, so for that I’m proud of the way our guys approached this year.

“I’m looking forward to us building on this and seeing what we can achieve next season.”

Two batters broke the 400-run barrier – Kai Croft (488) and Damian Baxter (420) – and both Jack Dormer and Tristan Wakeley went past 300 in the league.

The three principal wicket-taking bowlers were Doulton (31), Croft (27) and Ben Morgan (26). He operated below four runs per over all season.

A personal highlight was a career-first hat-trick for Seaton lifer Ben Morgan in a 163-run win over Ashburton back in June.

“We didn’t have to rely on individuals either this year, it was different people chipping in each week,” said captain Doulton.
