
IVYBRIDGE are the new leaders in the Tolchards DCL C Division West after handing out a 197-run hiding to Yelverton Bohemians.
Ashburton, who were top, dropped down to third after they lost to Cornwood 2nd XI, who have move-up to fourth.
Ivybridge and Paignton, winners against Sandford 2nd XI, both went past Ashburton in an all-change top four.
The Bridge posted an imposing total of 262 for five in 41 overs. Cebo Tshiki was the man of the moment with 104,
Harvey Johnson (32) and Zack Dunn got Ivybridge up to 54 for two, at which point Tshiki strode into the middle.
A stand of 128 between Tshiki and Dunn (32) was followed by another of 51 with Harry Solomon (17) at the other end.
Tshiki, fourth out on 233, faced 86 balls for his 104. He hit 14 fours and two sixes.
Deepanshu Gahlawat (2-58) was the only Yelverton bowler to collect more than one wicket.
Yelverton were all out in reply midway through the 21st over for 65. Ed Sorenson top scored on 20.
Most of the damage with the ball was one by Lewis Clarke (4-15) or Arthur Johnson (3-21). Johnson’s three wickets all came in a 10-ball spell that tore the heart out of Yelverton’s top order.
David Ackford, the Yelverton captain, said there were a number of factors that contributed to this defeat.
“Ours is a young team that is in transition and we had availability issues when playing against the best team in our division,” said Ackford.
SOUTH Devon rediscovered their winning touch with a one-run win over Brixham in a C West nail-biter.
South Devon, still smarting from a defeat at Kingsbridge, were all out for 138 in the last of their 45 overs – and were glad of veteran duo Richard Beaumont and Jonny Martin for getting that many on the board.
Dilip Salinda with a watchful 24 off 89 balls was the only top-five batter to deal with the bowling threat posed by Rhys Dallow (3-18)
A stand of 50 between Salinda and Beaumont got South Devon up to 83 for five. Martin (20) with help from Jackson Evans, added runs that proved valuable in the final totting-up.
Brad McKee, G R Silva and Mike Barron had two wickets each for Brixham.
Brixham got to 52 for one in reply – Richard Ward (18) and Tom Hopper (13) attaining double-figure scores – then slumped to 63 for five then 71 for six. Martin (3-13) did most of the damage.
Back came Brixham with Holly Perkin (24no) leading the recovery. Wickets continued to fall at the other end where Mali Marshall (3-34) picked them up in his second spell.
With two runs needed for a Brixham win, South Devon’s Dan Duke trapped McKee lbw to win it for the home side.

ARTHUR Ray spun his way to a four-wicket haul that helped Paignton 2nd XI to victory over Sandford 2nd XI.
Ray, a mid-winter capture from Torquay took four for 44 from nine overs as Sandford were bowled out for 180, George Woodcock claimed three for 29.
Ben Handley (45no) top scored for Sandford. Ellie Bishop (26), Shaun Hawkins (28) and Jon James (20) all chipped in.
Rio Koyikkara (31) gave Paignton a start that Woodcock (41) and Carl McFarlane (35) built on. Andy Singh (33no) was in at the end.
Hawkins (2-31) and Handley (2-32) were Sandford’s main wicket takers. Ollie Knight (8-1-14-1) offered little to go after.
ALEX Hill hit a century that put Plymouth 2nd XI on course for a 56-run win over Kingsbridge.
Plymouth’s total of 175 all out was under-pinned by a knock of 107 from Hill. It was his maiden league century and topped his previous best of 93, scored against South Devon in 2022.
Hill went in at 11 for two and was the last man out. Plymouth were 70 for seven at one stage, but recovered thanks to Hill and Aziz Rahmanzi (25) notching 78 for the eighth wicket.
Wily old pro Neal Peach (3-13), a 45-year veteran, was Kingsbridge’s leading wicket taker. Freddie Weir (2-11) was close behind.
Kingsbridge appeared well place on the chase at 83 for three with James Ellis (21), James Fletcher (18) and Freddie Ford (25) all chipping in. Rot set in when Ford was fifth our with the score on 107.
There were three wickets each for Sam Knapman and Birks as Kingsbridge collapsed in a heap.
