BRATTON Fleming went down by four wickets after making the long trek to Belstone for a Division One encounter in the North Devon League.

Bratton were all out for 183 and got that far thanks mainly to Jimmer Thomas (64). There was late-order support from Neil Ayre (30) and James Tapp (24). 

Doug Little took three for 38 for the Foxes. Ryan Dennis and Alex Fillingham took two wickets each.

Brandon Horn (40) and Leon Horn (36) led the way as Belstone got the runs in a hurry. It took them just 20.3 overs. Thomas took a couple of wickets for Bratton.

WESTLEIGH made the short trip down the hill to Instow, where they were put to the sword by North Devon.

North Devon amassed 369 for five in 34.4 overs before rain stopped play.

Darren Butler helped himself to 153, Jack Popham ‘bottled it’ on 77, and James Tyson hit 55. There were three wickets for Richard Pearson (3-80) – including Butler’s – and a couple for James Starkey (2-74) before the rain came.

EXFORD defeated Ilfracombe by five wickets in the only game played in the NDL Division Two

Ilfracombe batted first at Exford, and struggled to 144 all out in 36 overs. Graham Garner (38) and Nathan Townsend (26) were their top scorers. 

Exford were indebted to Paul Jones, who took five Combe wickets for 27 runs in his eight-over spell.

Simon Strong (42) top scored for Exford as they raced to victory inside 22 overs. Jones (30) and Sam Price (29) were also among the run getters.

Exford (20pts) bt Ilfracombe (5) by 5 wkts.

HOLSWORTHY overcame Victoria Park by 37 runs in the top-of-the-table clash in Division Three at Stanhope Park.

The Park won the toss, and must have been delighted to dismiss their hosts for 138. Jack Greening carried on his good form, with 69; no one else got above 20 for the home side.

Rob Guppy had five for 25 and there were two wickets each for Jim Keates and Ben Scarret. 

Victoria Park started well as David Stanton (28) and Adrian Scarret (27) put on 45 for the first wicket. After that it was all downhill as only one other batter reached double figures as they collapsed to 101 all out.

Tim Down took four for 23, Ashan Raza Jafri had three for 22 and Rowan Tidball two more for 23 runs.

Holsworthy (20pts) bt Victoria Park (6) by 37 runs.

BARNSTAPLE & Pilton lost by 41 runs when they travelled to face Hatherleigh 2ndXI.

Cameron Rowlands (68no) and Adam Quick (56) put on 106 for the fourth wicket as the home side racked-up 204 for five. Clive Ball (3-39) was the pick of the B&P bowlers.

Barnstaple & Pilton batted their full quota of overs in reply, but ended up 42 runs short of victory on 163 for six.

Jamie Sutton anchored the innings with a stoic 50, but until Freddy Norton hit a quickfire 35 it would appear Hatherleigh bowlers put the squeeze on the visitors. Tom Carroll (2-21) Oscar Moore ()=2-22) and Alan Jones (2-28) took the wickets for Hatherleigh. Dominic Greenwood’s eight overs cost just 14 runs.

Hatherleigh (20pts) bt Barnstaple & Pilton (6) by 41 runs.

THE game between Braunton Kelseymen and Newton Tracey was abandoned due to bad weather just as it was getting interesting.

Julian Moore made 50 and Jonathan Slee 39 in Newton Tracey’s all-out total of 193 – a decent effort after they had been 136 for eight.

James Hare (3-47) was the leading Braunton wicket taker. Ballie Braund and Martyn Lewis took two wickets each.

Sam Reddick (24) and Andy Norman (38) had runs for Braunton, who were 89 for three when rain stopped play.

FILLEIGH defeated Newton Tracey 1stXI by six wickets in the first semi-final of the North Devon League Cup.

Newton batted first and amassed 263 for the loss of seven wickets. The Gears – Martin (77), Simon (48) and Rob (35) – starred with the bat for Newton. 

Simon and Martin shared a stand of 126 for the fourth wicket before Chris Gosney (2-40) split them up.

Gosney, Louis Roberts (2-52) and Dan Smith (2-29) shared the wickets between them.

An unbeaten 101 from Jas Kalsi – 14 fours, one six – got Filleigh home and hosed with 10 balls to spare. 

Dan Smith made 93 during a third-wicket partnership of 154 with Kalsi. Connor Nash chipped in with an unbeaten 22 at the end.
