Hatherleigh enjoyed a season to remember in 2026, completing a superb league and cup double by winning Division Two before adding the T20 Plate later in the summer.

Four victories from six league matches brought them 88 points, nine clear of runners-up Taunton Deane, with their only defeats coming away to Deane and against Clyst St George.

One of the key victories came against Plympton, where Hatherleigh secured a 16-run success built around a superb innings from Chloe Dennis.

Dennis struck a season-best 96, narrowly missing out on a century but producing one of the defining batting performances of Hatherleigh’s title-winning campaign.

Clyst St George inflicted one of only two league defeats on Hatherleigh in August, posting 170 for nine before bowling them out for 108, but the eventual champions showed enough consistency across the rest of the summer to remain at the head of the table.

Dennis led Hatherleigh’s batting with 241 runs, passing fifty twice and finishing with an average of 40.17.

Her best innings was the 96 against Plympton, a contribution which proved crucial as Hatherleigh went on to complete a 16-run victory.

Chloe Rose provided strong support with 179 runs and a highest score of 41, while Olivia Cooper added 123 to give Hatherleigh contributions throughout the top order.

Dennis was equally influential with the ball, finishing as Hatherleigh’s leading wicket-taker with 13.

Her finest spell came against Taunton Deane, where she claimed five wickets in an excellent individual display. Her best figures of five for seven were the only five-wicket haul among Division Two’s leading bowlers.

Amalie Brock finished with eight wickets, including best figures of three for six, while Jessica Dennis took seven with a best return of three for seven.

Dennis may have topped both the batting and bowling charts, but Hatherleigh’s success was not built around one player alone. Rose and Cooper made important runs, while Brock and Jessica Dennis were among those who consistently provided support with the ball.

And there was still another trophy to come.

Hatherleigh progressed through the T20 Plate to reach the final, where they once again came up against Taunton Deane.

Having been beaten away by Deane during the league campaign, there was a fitting sense of redemption when Hatherleigh turned the tables in the final to lift the Plate and complete an impressive double.

Division Two champions and T20 Plate winners in the same season made 2026 one of considerable success for the club.

The reward is Division One cricket in 2027, where Hatherleigh will face a new set of challenges against the leading sides in the league. But they will make that step having proved they can win consistently, respond to setbacks and deliver when silverware is on the line.

After a league-and-cup double in 2026, the next chapter promises to be an exciting one.
