BOVEY Tracey are the hosts of this year’s Ivor Dewdney Corinthian Cup as Barton, Plymstock, Chagford, and Seaton compete to take the crown from Stoke Gabriel (10am start).

Plymstock were the team to knock Stoke Gabriel out, they defeated them in Round Two in a five wicket finish. Chester Oldfield had a claim for player of the match with 52 during the winning chase.

Their quarter-final clash against the C Division’s runaway leaders Ipplepen resulted in a six-wicket victory to set up a last four tie with Barton.

Plymstock captain Tom Mitch says his side are looking forward to the occasion, “The boys are really excited for the day. We’ve beaten three really good sides to get there so we hope to continue our form on the day.”

“There are four teams who all deserve to be there, and no results would surprise me. We know what we have to do to beat Barton and I’m confident in executing our plan to do so. Our team for the day is largely our 1st XI.”Harry Shelton – in Barton's squad for Corinthian Cup finals day

Barton are the other side who make up the first semi-final, their route to the final has seen victories against Kingsbridge and Sidmouth 2nd XI, as well as win by forfeiture against Plymouth Civil Service & Roborough.

Nick Watkin, the man in charge for Barton’s last short-format encounter, is another man who has benefitted from consistency in his team’s lineup, “Ten of the eleven who play this Saturday are available, Harry Shelton and Josh Parkinson come in to make it a squad of 12.”

“We are really pleased to be involved in finals day, and we are looking forward to it. We know we will be in for a tough game against Plymstock, who will no doubt be gunning for us if the last two league games are anything to go by.”

The other semi final sees the only D Division team, Chagford, face Seaton.

Chagford were beneficiaries of a bye in round one, before they comprehensively defeated Topsham St James and Clyst St George.

Chagford captain Jake Griffiths is benefitting from improved availability for the semi final, “Lucas Pedrochi is returning so that will help massively.”

Despite the returning Australian, Chagford still see themselves as the outsiders for the last four, “We know we have our work cut out for us being the only D Division team at finals day.” Said Griffiths, “we're keen to get stuck in and  see what we can do against a strong Seaton side.”

Seaton have been recipients of two forfeitures, their round one fixture against Uplyme & Lyme Regis, and their quarter final fixture against Heathcoat 2nd XI have both seen the opposition pull out.
