Devon Women's Amelie Munday has signed her first professional contract for Somerset Women ahead of the 2025 season.
The 22-year-old, who has signed a one-year rookie contract, worked her way through the Middlesex Pathway system before making her List A and T20 debuts for Hertfordshire in 2019.
Her Middlesex debut came in 2021, before enrolling at the University of Exeter the following year, when she joined the Western Storm Academy and made her first appearance for Devon Women.
During this time, Amelie coached on Devon's Performance Pathway, working on winter coaching programmes and leading Youth Development Cricket sides over the last two seasons.
Amelie made a total of 15 appearances for Devon Women, scoring 337 runs with a best of 71* against Cornwall.
After signing for Somerset, Amelie said:
"It's an incredible opportunity. The excitement of being able to pursue a career in the sport I love is amazing, and being able to do that for Somerset, makes it even better.
"With family in Plymouth, alongside playing for the University of Exeter, Devon has been a huge part of my journey. This has been my home for the last three years, and to be able to continue this journey for Somerset and the region makes me feel very lucky.
"It's fantastic that women can now access the full professional experience and resources of a club like Somerset, and it's up to us to make the most of that. As a little girl, this wasn't even an option. I can't wait to put in the hard yards and make 10-year-old me proud!
"I want to play a full part in pushing Somerset to the top of women’s cricket by developing my skills and earning a place in the First Team."
Speaking on the news, Devon Women Head Coach, David Joseph said: "We're delighted for Amelie.
"This is reward for all her hard work. She's made a major contribution to Devon Women’s success over the last few seasons.
"It's so good to see Amelie, Emma [Corney] and Erin [Vukusic] now representing Somerset."
Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry added: "Amelie is another of our players who has links to the region and will take tremendous pride in representing the South West every time she pulls on a Somerset shirt.
"She has demonstrated her ability in the county game over the last few years and we look forward to helping her develop as a batter and a cricketer."
