After a scorching weekend of cricket across the county, teams battled both the opposition and the soaring temperatures. Here’s how they got on.

Division Three

Over in Division Three, Bovey Tracey travelled to Chagford for their latest league fixture. After winning the toss, Bovey elected to field first and quickly took control with an impressive bowling display. Chagford struggled to build any momentum with the bat, with no batter reaching double figures. Bethany Gentle top-scored with 8, while Mae Walker led the attack with three wickets. Every Bovey bowler chipped in with at least one wicket as the visitors dominated throughout the innings.

Bovey Tracey then made light work of the chase, wasting little time in reaching their target. Amelie Webber (19*) and Isabelle Bradley (15*) guided the side home comfortably in just 8.4 overs to secure a convincing victory.

T20 Plate Group A

Plymouth 2nd XI took on Cornwood after losing the toss and being asked to field first. Cornwood produced a steady batting performance, led by C. Shutt with 33 and H. Bale with 25. Contributions from O. Dhulkotia (14) and S. Al Khalid (8) also helped the visitors reach 126/5 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Plymouth struggled to build momentum as early wickets put the hosts under pressure. A. Clarke led the chase with 15, while F. Cottam and L. Mercer both added 12, but the runs never came quickly enough. Despite their efforts, Plymouth 2nds fell short, finishing 38 runs behind the target.

T20 Plate Group B

Exmouth 2nd XI hosted Whimple after losing the toss and being asked to bat first. The home side struggled to build momentum early on, losing a few quick wickets, but valuable contributions from A. Baxter (30) and A. Higgins (31*) helped steady the innings. Their quick scoring late on guided Exmouth to 105/8 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Whimple made a strong start through their opening partnership, which added 46 runs before K. Trude was dismissed for 39 by E. Dance. Dance then struck again with the very next delivery to remove H. Walsh, narrowly missing out on a hat-trick. However, S. Bomby’s 18 helped keep the chase on track, and Whimple eventually reached the target in 17.2 overs to move to the top of the group.

T20 Plate Group C

Bradninch & Kentisbeare travelled to Taunton Deane for their opening match in the T20 Plate, winning the toss and electing to field first. The visitors made an encouraging start as Jess Phillips removed Niamh Wait early, leaving Taunton Deane at 18-1 after 2.2 overs.

From there, however, Taunton Deane took control through an excellent partnership between Charlotte Berry and Pippa Stephens. Berry struck 35 before falling to Daisy Stein, while Stephens continued to dominate the innings with an unbeaten 77. Captain Harriet Kelly added valuable support with 22 not out as the hosts finished strongly on 176/2 from their 20 overs.

Taunton Deane then produced a ruthless display with the ball, completely dominating the second innings. Bradninch & Kentisbeare struggled from the outset and were bowled out for just 14 in 7.1 overs. Amy Farr delivered outstanding figures of 4 wickets without conceding a run from her two overs, while Adams and Keal both chipped in with two wickets apiece to wrap up an emphatic victory.
