With two fixtures called off due to teams being unable to field a side, just two matches took place across the Tolchards Devon Women’s Cricket League and T20 Plate last weekend.
Bradninch & Kentisbeare hosted Holsworthy in Division Three action, while Clyst St George welcomed Whimple in Group B of the T20 Plate.
Here’s what happened on Sunday.
Bradninch & Kentisbeare vs Holsworthy
Bradninch & Kentisbeare welcomed Holsworthy for their opening Division Three fixture, with the home side losing the toss and being asked to bat first. What followed was a near-perfect batting display, as Bradninch & Kentisbeare piled on 232 runs for the loss of just one wicket.
Fi Morgan laid the foundation with a composed 62 before retiring, while Emma Farley stole the show with a superb 101, eventually falling to a run out after reaching her century. Yvonne Jackson (11*) and Meg Acton (20*) maintained the momentum late in the innings, ensuring the hosts finished strongly despite Holsworthy’s efforts with the ball.
Facing a daunting chase, Holsworthy struggled early on as Hannah Steadman and Jodie Gardener both fell early, leaving Bradninch & Kentisbeare firmly in control. A strong partnership between Freya Godfrey (54) and Rebecca Sharp (41*) gave the visitors hope and helped keep the scoreboard moving, but the target ultimately proved too much as Holsworthy finished 95 runs short.
“For the first game of the season at our home ground, we couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. It was a fantastic team performance, made even more special by the individual efforts of our two opening batters. Between them, they recorded a half-century, and a century. Which was Emma Farley's maiden century, and also the first ever century for BKCC Ladies in the 10 years since the sector was established. A truly special day and the perfect way to begin our 2026 campaign.” Meg Acton, Bradninch & Kentisbeare Captain.
Clyst St George vs Whimple
Whimple travelled to Bohea Field for the opening fixture of the T20 Plate. After winning the toss, Clyst St George elected to bat first and made a steady start through openers Clare Pym (27) and Chloe Williams (16). The pair built a solid partnership before Sophie Bomby and Jess Harris struck to provide Whimple with key breakthroughs.
Despite those wickets, Clyst St George continued to build through Ali West, who top-scored with 43, while Alyssia Hayes added 20 to help the hosts post a competitive 132 from their 20 overs.
In reply, Whimple produced an excellent batting performance from start to finish. Openers Kirsty Trude (40*) and Michelle Madge (70*) controlled the chase throughout, putting together an unbeaten partnership to guide their side to 133 without loss in just 18 overs and secure an emphatic victory.
Next week sees the return of all three divisions in the Tolchards Devon Women’s Cricket League, with another full round of fixtures set to take place across the county.
