As we near the end of the season, every game counts, with teams looking to finish their campaigns strongly. This week saw action across the T20 Trophy, T20 8-a-Side and T20 Plate competitions, with plenty of runs, wickets and close finishes. Here’s how the teams got on.
T20 Trophy
Exmouth vs Exeter
Exmouth welcomed Exeter to The Maer, looking to secure their first win in the T20 Trophy. Batting first, the hosts posted a competitive 148/3, with Holly Evans leading the way with an unbeaten 48. Sasha Gerrick added 36, while Lucy Humphreys contributed 31 to help Exmouth set Exeter a challenging target.
Exeter lost the early wicket of Jessica Breban (5), but Grace Golsworthy took control of the chase with an impressive unbeaten 67. Supported by Imogen Daldorph, who scored 49, Exeter quickly recovered and reached their target in the 16th over to secure the win.
T20 8 A Side Group A
Bovey Tracey 2nds vs Exmouth 3rds
Bovey Tracey 2nds were looking to continue their dominance in the league. They took on Exmouth on home soil. Fielding first, they took control from the first over, with Exmouth finding themselves 3/1. Finding themselves in trouble, Exmouth struggled against the bowling of Bovey - ending their innings all out for 45.
Bovey Tracey wasted no time in chasing down the runs, with Isabelle Bradley (28) hitting a 4 to win the game in the 6th over. At the other end, Terri Hayes (6) helped to secure the win, cementing their place at the top of the table.
T20 8 A Side Group B
Seaton vs Sidmouth
Seaton hosted Sidmouth for their latest T20 8-A-Side fixture, with the visitors winning the toss and electing to bat first. Sidmouth produced an impressive batting display, posting 187, led by unbeaten half-centuries from Farrah Pugsley (53*) and Grace Thompson (51*), who both retired. Denise Evans (29*) and Hannah Slim (20*) then added valuable runs to finish the innings strongly.
Seaton's chase got off to a difficult start with the early dismissal of Taylar Rutter. They struggled to build partnerships throughout the innings and were eventually bowled out for 48. Amalie Baxter (23*) and Millie Crabb (13) provided some resistance, but Sidmouth's bowling attack proved too strong.
T20 Plate Group A
Plympton vs Plymouth 2nds
Plympton welcomed Plymouth 2nds for their latest group-stage fixture, batting first after winning the toss. Stephanie Hutchins led the way with an impressive 66 from just 35 balls, while Maddie Turner added 39 and Evie Hampton contributed 14 to help Plympton post 148.
Plymouth's chase began positively as the batters looked to build partnerships. Sophie Varga top-scored with an unbeaten 46, supported by Kay Witten (14), Molly Kerry (15) and Bella Greenwood (12). Despite their efforts, Plymouth were unable to maintain the required scoring rate and finished 38 runs short.
Plymouth 2nds vs Plympton
Just a few days later, Plymouth 2nds had another chance to take on Plympton as the two sides met again. This time, Plympton won the toss and elected to field first.
Plymouth struggled to build partnerships despite an excellent unbeaten 54 from Charlotte Greenwood, eventually being bowled out for 117. Evie Hampton was the standout bowler, taking an impressive six wickets for just 11 runs.
Plympton's chase also got off to a difficult start as Plymouth's bowlers kept the pressure on. Maddie Turner led the way with 42 before falling to Charlotte Greenwood, after which the scoring slowed. Plymouth continued to fight for every wicket and ultimately restricted Plympton to seven runs short, securing the win they had been looking for earlier in the week.
