Plympton’s 2026 season was one of clear promise — a third-place finish in Division Two, some excellent wins and a handful of individual performances that showed just how much quality there is in the side.

They ended the league campaign with 67 points from six fixtures, recording two victories as well as receiving the points from Clyst St George’s concession. While they finished behind Hatherleigh and Taunton Deane, there were enough strong performances across the summer to suggest Plympton have plenty to build on.

One of the games that really stood out came against eventual champions Hatherleigh in June.

Set 220 to win, Plympton reached 203 for seven from their 35 overs and fell just 16 runs short. The result did not go their way, but Nannapat Khoncharoenkai produced a superb unbeaten 135 from 91 balls, including 14 fours, to take Plympton incredibly close.

A few weeks later, it was Steph Hutchins who produced the performance of the day against Taunton Deane.

Hutchins took five for seven as Taunton were bowled out for just 76 in 18.4 overs. Plympton then made short work of the chase, reaching 77 for two in only 8.4 overs to complete an excellent eight-wicket win.

There was another convincing victory against Clyst St George, with Plympton making 283 for four from their 35 overs before bowling Clyst out for 154 to win by 129 runs.

Those performances helped Plympton finish third behind Hatherleigh and Taunton Deane and showed that, on their day, they were more than capable of troubling the strongest sides in the division.

Khoncharoenkai finished as Plympton’s leading league run-scorer despite playing only two innings.

She was unbeaten in both, finishing with 190 runs in total, with that brilliant 135 not out against Hatherleigh the obvious highlight.

Hutchins scored 80 runs from two innings, including a best of 66, while Evie Hampton made 75 from three innings with a highest score of 52 not out.

Leading league bowlers

Hutchins led Plympton’s league bowling with eight wickets, and her five for seven against Taunton Deane was without doubt one of the big moments of their season.

Hampton also made an important contribution with the ball, taking five league wickets and returning best figures of three for 29.

Between Khoncharoenkai’s unbeaten century and Hutchins’ five-wicket haul, Plympton had two performances that really defined their league campaign.

T20 Plate

There were more positives in the T20 Plate, where Plympton finished second in their group on nine points after winning three matches.

Hampton was particularly impressive with the ball, taking 13 wickets in the competition and producing superb figures of six for 11 in one game.

Maddie Turner  ( pictured) was Plympton’s leading Plate run-scorer with 157 runs, while Khoncharoenkai and Hutchins also made useful contributions with 73 and 66 respectively.

The season was rounded off with recognition at Plympton’s end-of-season awards.

Evie Hampton, pictured, was named both the women’s Bowler of the Season and Player of the Season after an excellent year, while Maddie Turner, also pictured, picked up the women’s Batting Award.

Plympton’s 2026 season ultimately showed plenty of promise. Third place in Division Two was backed up by some excellent victories, while Khoncharoenkai’s unbeaten 135, Hutchins’ five for seven and Hampton’s six-wicket haul in the T20 Plate provided some memorable individual moments.

There is plenty of quality within the side, and 2026 has given Plympton a strong platform from which to push on again in 2027.
