Ottery St Mary rounded off their Division Three campaign with a four-wicket victory over Chagford, securing second place in the table on 142 points.

Chagford were in trouble early, with Ottery removing their leading run-scorer Lily Finlay for just one.

Lily Harlond claimed the important wicket and went on to finish with 3-16 as Chagford were bowled out for 64 in 15.5 overs.

Millie Goodhand led the resistance with 22 from 41 balls and Brianna Barlow-Endacott added 14, but Ottery continued to make regular breakthroughs.

Alice Gregory produced the pick of the figures with 4-10 from four overs, while Rosie Nanckivell brought the innings to a close with two wickets for just one run from five balls.

Ottery’s chase was anything but straightforward.

Chagford made an excellent start by removing both openers without scoring and continued to find wickets as Ottery struggled to build any real momentum.

Olivia Morgan made 11 before Katie Gracie was dismissed with the score on 52-5, leaving Chagford still with a chance of signing off with a victory.

Alice Please then played the decisive innings.

She hit an unbeaten 21 from 18 balls, including two fours and a six, to guide Ottery to 65-6 in 13.1 overs.

Finlay signed off her season with an excellent 2-13 from six overs, including a maiden, while Barlow-Endacott took 2-11 as Chagford made Ottery work hard for the victory.

The win was Ottery’s seventh from ten league games and ensured they finished comfortably in second place behind champions Bovey Tracey.

Chagford, meanwhile, completed their campaign in sixth place on 23 points, but pushed the division’s runners-up all the way in their final outing.
