ECB Umpiring Course
In October 2023, the ECB launched a brand-new umpire course for everyone involved in and around cricket to have the opportunity to become a cricket umpire. Parents, young leaders, volunteers, players, and everyone in between have the opportunity to book onto the new look course.
The ECB Umpiring Course was developed throughout 2023, to engage a new audience of umpires. The new course is a blended learning offer with both an e-learning module and a practical face-to-face day.
The new course has been designed for umpires wanting to umpire in entry-level competitions such as junior cricket, softball festivals and all social cricket. The ECB want to change perceptions of umpires and encourage more people to enjoy volunteering from 'The Best Seat in the House' at a cricket game.
The ambition is to grow the umpire workforce to be more reflective of the communities that play our game.

E-Learning
E-Learning will be available for individuals who have signed up for the courses to access and complete prior to attending the face-to-face element of training. Attendees will be asked to complete the following E-Learning for certification:
- ECB Umpire Course E-Learning
- ECB Safeguarding for Officials E-Learning Course
- ECB Anti-Discrimination for Officials E-Learning Course
DACO Umpire CPD Sessions
DACO are running pre-season Umpire CPD sessions, which are free to attend for DACO members.
The sessions will include a short presentation on key topics, including timings, Ground Weather Light and Pitch Markings. The aim is to have an informed discussion to ensure everyone follows the same processes on field. A full agenda will be circulated to those attending shortly before the meeting.
