2022 sees the launch of the Devon Cricket Girl's Softball League - a move made in response to the growth in girl's playing and the need to a more formal playing offer for established teams. The hard work of volunteers at clubs at clubs and the more connected approach of working in schools and clubs has seen a big increase in the number of potential teams and girls accessing the game.
Working with the youth leagues, the girls leagues will be centrally run so that they can be newly established and managed by Devon Cricket. For detailed team information, you can visit the Devon Cricket Girl's Leagues and Competitions page
The formation of the leagues from under 11 upwards means girls have a clear pathway (see graphic below) from All Stars to both the women's hardball and softball leagues. It is a very exciting time for girl's cricket in the county.

The Under 11s Coundown Cricket Softball League is a festival based league where each club is the host to all other clubs and all the teams play each other. The games are based on the Hundred Cricket format, using the rules for Countdown Cricket which is part of the Dynamos Programme. All games will be scored by the Countdown Cricket APP and recorded on Play Cricket.
The girls will play two games in each fixture and the pairs format will mean they all get to bat. Managers are encouraged to ensure that all girls bowl and have a chance to have a go at being the wicket keeper. Particiaption is the key so that the girls remain in the game.
In the 2022 season, the Under 11s Coundown Cricket League contains 13 teams across 4 regional leagues in the county.
The Under 13s league contains 9 clubs across 3 regional leagues in the county.
The festivals will be played once a month from April to August, with the county final's day being held on 18th September (venue tbc)
