The Youth Development Cricket (YDC) Team Coaches are responsible for developing players to a high quality during their summer match programme. The coach’s role is a crucial one in ensuring that players have a positive experience of playing within their County. We currently have vacancies for team coaches at the age groups listed below. The positions will begin from April 2022.

Boys: U10, U11, U12, U13 & U14.

Girls: U11, U13, U15.

Job Description:

The role of a YDC Team Cricket Coach includes the following: Supported by the Team Manager & Pathway & Coaching Manager

  • Attend & Coach at matches for your YDC squad.
  • Liaising with Manager around team selection and organisation of squad.
  • Attend county coach CPD events.

Match Day – In partnership with manager Pre-match:

  • Responsible for the appearance of your players.
  • Responsible for equipment including first aid kit.
  • Responsible for warm up’s & pre-match preparations.
  • Brief team on the aims of the game and any short-term target.

During match:

  • Ongoing communications with players before, during and after the game including rotation of fielders
  • Observation of fielder's angles / depth of keeper / overall shape & feel of the team
  • Assign roles to the team members

Post-match:

  • Thank the appropriate people.
  • Debrief players and give feedback on the game

Approximate time commitment:

Approximately 5-8matches varying between School holidays and Sunday’s during the 2022 summer.

Qualifications and checks required:

Coaches must currently possess the following or commit to doing so shortly after appointment.

  • Minimum of a Level 2 (Core) qualified cricket coach.
  • ECB DBS (formally CRB) clearance certificate.
  • A valid First Aid certificate (completed within three years).
  • A valid Safeguarding & Protecting Children certificate (completed within three years).

Desirable qualifications and experience:

Desirable but not necessarily required qualifications and experience for the role are:

  • Level 3 qualified cricket coach.
  • Experience at coaching at District or County level.

You will become part of the new Development Programme structure in the Devon Pathway where you will play your part in developing and creating cricketers of the future. You will be remunerated for your work during the Summer.
