ROUND UP OF THE 2021 SEASON

UNDER 11 FESTIVALS

These festivals are organised so that newly created under 11 teams that are part of Dynamos or the Club Champions initiative have meaningful opportuntities to play. It is great of as a club you are able to get a team together, but if you cannot, please still enter the festivals and we will put you into teams when you arrive.

The morning will start with a few warm up activites and then we will play as many games as we can!

All festivals run from 9:30-12:30

In the 2021 season we ran 4 very successful under 11 festivals across the county to which we welcomed 14 teams, 9 of which had never fielded a girl's team before. What a great achievement of our clubs of Devon. Thank you to all the volunteers involved in the running of these sections and these clubs who put on a festival:

Plympton CC, Chagford CC, Budleigh Salterton CC and Exmouth CC

Also thanks to the Young Storm Champions who came to help: Holly Evans, Daisy Leake and Mai

If you have had a rise in number of girls at your club and would like to set up a girls only Dynamos or girls only section, then please contact ann-marie.presswell@devoncricket.co.uk, who will let you know how the county board can support your club.

SUMMER CAMPS

Last summer we ran sessions which were accessed by 34 girls across Devon. Our community coaches ran a series of activities to improve batting and bowling during the morning. This was very much led by the girls, focusing on what they wanted to work on. During the afternoon, the girls played games, developing the skills they had been working on during the morning. We also included them in the officiating and they all had a turn at umpiring and scoring - even working the scoreboard at Whimple!

The hardball and softball camps will run alongside each other so that girls can see the progression to hardball that they might choose to make at a future date. The sessions will be held at two pitch venues.

In the 2021 summer we had over 70 girls signed up to the summer camps across the county and took part in camps that helped to develop softball or hardball skills. We even had the TV cameras visit one sessions and the girls spoke about why they loved cricket for ITV Westcountry.

Thanks to Hatherleigh CC, Ivybridge CC, Whimple CC and Bovey Tracey CC for hosting and for the help of the community coaches and our Young Storm Champion, Holly Evans.
