Devon Women maintained their 100% win record in the 50-over ECB County Championship this season with a 157-run win over Wiltshire at Royal Wootton Bassett CC on Sunday.

Wiltshire won the toss and elected to put Devon in to bat. Devon's top three played with really aggressive intent, taking the score to 83 for 1 at the end of the first powerplay. Amelie Munday (47) was out in the 12th over, leaving Ruby Davis (64) to continue taking the attack to Wiltshire ably assisted by Ellie Bishop.

Having lost a couple of middle-order wickets, Gemma Lancaster and captain Steph Hutchins (46) rebuilt the innings and with a late cameo from Katie Donovan set Wiltshire 271 to win.

Devon's opening attack of Eliza Heard and Katie Donovan were at their destructive best reducing Wiltshire to 24 for 6, including an incredible diving catch by Regina Lilii, after 10 overs. A battling recovery led by Poppy Walker (55) got Wiltshire past 100 for 7. The reintroduction of Katie Donovan proved crucial with her removing the last 3 wickets and finishing with excellent figures of 7-10, rounding off an impressive 157-run win.

David Joseph's Post-Match Thoughts

"We were delighted with today's performance. We talked before the game about being positive in both first powerplays, being 81 for 1 batting and having Wiltshire 24 for 6 showed we executed both excellently.

"The whole team, including Ella Gill on debut, made important contributions, but we're especially pleased for Katie taking career-best 7-10. A really good day at the office."

Steph Hutchins' Post-Match Thoughts

"We set the tone with the bat from the first ball which allowed everyone that came in to do the same. We built partnerships at key points which allowed us to get to a decent and defendable score.

"We followed this on with the ball in hand with a wicket first ball. Our openers took 6 in the first power play and set the tone for the others that came on. We had clear plans that we executed with bat and ball."
