Devon Women continued their winning start to life at The Holt with a 137-run victory over Buckinghamshire on Sunday.

On a sun-drenched day at Budleigh Salterton, Devon Women produced a commanding performance after being put in to bat by Bucks.

The foundation of our 261-9 was built on a composed 59 from Elle Golsworthy and a fluent 83 from Ellie Bishop, who combined for a 85-run second-wicket stand. Golsworthy anchored the early innings with patience, reaching her half-century in 82 balls, while Bishop accelerated with intent, striking at 83.00 to keep the scoreboard ticking. Late contributions from Regina Lilii (26) and Katie Donovan’s unbeaten 23 ensured Devon posted a challenging total, despite Tegan Stockdale (3-30) and Natasha MacBean (3-34) keeping things tight for the visitors.

In reply, Bucks' chase never gained momentum as Devon's bowlers struck early and often. Jojo Baylis (2-36) and Ella Gill (2-16) dismantled the top order, reducing Bucks to 62-9 before a defiant last-wicket stand of 62 between Megs Woodward (30) and Flo Harry (25*) prolonged the game into the 33rd over.

Abbie Lockett (2-7) and Steph Hutchins (1-10) maintained the pressure, with Devon's sharp fielding, including two catches and a run out for Golsworthy, sealing a dominant display.

David Joseph's Post-Match Thoughts

"We're really pleased to come away from the first two games with wins. There were a lot of positives in Sunday's performance, with a number of players making major contributions.

"As a squad, we are looking to continue to develop and improve and look forward to taking our learnings into the upcoming T20 game."

Steph Hutchins' Post-Match Thoughts

"We had a really great result Sunday to leave us with two wins on the board.

"Another top performance by Ellie and Elle's maiden senior 50 were particular highlights with the bat, while the wickets were shared around between the bowlers, including Abbie's first senior wickets.

"Each week we continue to improve and more people are contributing to the result, which is a great precedent for the rest of the season as we still have a lot to offer."

Ellie Bishop's Post-Match Thoughts

"A really positive and dominant performance with both bat and ball. We had a number of good partnerships throughout our batting innings, especially between myself and Elle, which led us to a great total of 261.

"We felt this was a very defendable total on not the easiest of wickets. Our bowlers executed their plans well and got the reward of early wickets. We also fielded well as a unit and put pressure back on the Buckinghamshire batters.

"Overall, it was a fantastic team performance and a very convincing win. Hopefully we can keep building momentum and make it 3 wins from 3 games when we play Dorset in the T20 Cup on bank holiday Monday."
